During
the whole of 1987 and part of 88, Manuel Vicent and Amancio Prada worked together in the
composition of a set of songs based on selections of Manuel Vicent´s newspaper columns.
The result of this work is reflected in the album Navegando la noche (Navigating the
Night). Málaga University invited them to participate in cycle of lectures of El
poeta y la voz (the poet and the voice) in order to elucidate the process and
fruits of this collaboration. The lecture combined the reading of the original texts with
the performance of the subsequent songs.
In this way, Amancio Prada and Manuel Vicent appeared together, for the first time, on
the Paraninfo stage of Málaga University, thus giving rise to a new scenic experience.
The personal satisfaction and acclaim which accompanied this original performance has
encouraged them to repeat the experience in other settings, unveiling their Taller
de columnas y canciones (Workshop of columns and songs).
